Common Household Items That You Might Find Weird

If there is one thing that is as delightful as getting your own place, it is seeing your house transform into a home. Nowadays, it is a lot easier to purchase a place to live in at many prime locations in the Philippines including condos in Cubao, Quezon City and Greenhills through the help of affordable and flexible real estate packages. Condo-owners and home-owners can now focus on furnishing their homes and make it a more suitable nest.

It is really fulfilling to see your home get filled with things that will make you feel comfortable especially when you started up from scratch. Seeing every piece of furniture, décor, and appliance that you invested to a once empty space will make you realize the hard work you’ve been through. And much like dressing up, furnishing our homes says a lot about us. It reflects the personality of the home-owner and the people who live in there.

Furnishing is yet another opportunity to showcase how practical, creative, and culturally-adept we truly are. You might be surprised to know that some of the things that are commonly found in our houses, if we think about, would really weird us out or at least illicit a chuckle. You might not notice these small things because we often see them every day. But to put emphasis on them, let us list a couple of them down.

Danish cookie tin can with a twist
Don’t get your hopes up if you see a tin can of Danish Cookies lying around a Filipino household. Don’t even try to open it and expect a tasty treat waiting for you. The chances are that this tin can is filled with nothing but needles and thread. Yep, its grandma’s sewing kit. And whatever’s left of those Danish cookies are no more than mere memories.

Recycled ice cream tub
This might be the cruelest trap in a household. So there you are: raiding your fridge for something to relieve you from the unforgiving heat of the weather. You spot a tub of ice cream in the freezer. You felt a surge of joy. You open it with great anticipation, but instead of ice cream, your nose was attacked by the musk of what is inside the tub: fish.

Plastic bags containing more plastic bags
For some reason there is that one big plastic bag in a household that contains more plastic bag from different instances of shopping. We keep these plastic in an attempt to recycle.  These are often used as alternative garbage bags or for wrapping other things we want to store.

A drawer filed with cables
There is this mysterious drawer wherein old mobile phone chargers, earphones, wire jack, USB connector, extension cords, and other random cables are stored. We keep them not for the sentimental value but for the hope that, one day, they can be of use again.

What other eccentric, odd, or funny things that we Filipinos like having lie around our houses? #Relate
